Dave (L) - A chemist who formulates urethane foams for the auto industry. As did most of the guys on this page we went through race school together in 2000. It was good year - a lot of fast guys came out of it. Several pros, but not me :-) Jeff (R) A software developer from Chicago rode single-cyclinder 125cc grand-prix spec bikes. He's one of the fastest riders I've ever seen at our home track, turning times in the 1:24's - fast enough to beat many 1000cc bikes. Started in 1997 on 125's, went to 600cc bikes in 2005. |

Ken (L) Another automotive engineer. The most common careers among the racers I know are engineers and software developers. Ken was also a 125cc gp racer his whole career. Steve (R) Another coder who ran 125cc gp bikes for as long as the money held out. He's re-jetting the carb. These small two-stroke motors make about 40hp - so highly stressed they need new cylinders and pistons just about every weekend (...as long as the money holds out). |

Mike (L) Ran this 550cc MZ Skorpion, till he had the most specactular "incident" most of us have ever seen (more on the FAQ page). He switched to 250cc, two-stroke Aprillias, which at 90-100 hp makes the money run out twice as fast. Saul (R) A former motorcycle courier in San Francisco - this Honda Hawk had been rebuilt many times - and had more than 300,000 miles on it when he started racing, and beating me regularly. Tattoed from toe to neck, both sides with intricate asian-inspired art. |

Jim (L) Super nice guy, a senior executive for one of the big three (when they were the big three) and could afford the bike he's holding - owned by Jamie Hacking, national supersport champion the year before (2003). Turns out we went to the same high school - Jim 12 years behind me. Carlos (R) and his cousin Willy are both from my hometown, Waterford, Michigan. A trackday instructor, and autobody painter by day (which is why his rides are so slick). |

Jonas (L) another 2000 race class alum, started on a 650 twin (same class as mine) spanked everyone the first year, went to 250cc GP bikes, and then to semi-pro racing in the AMA 600cc Supersport class. Doug (R) went the opposite direction in choosing a racing class in which to compete. After this first year racing 600s, he moved to 125cc GP machines where he had even more fun and challenges in a class which tends to draw a more mature, less reckless style of rider. |
